The project SiMaKon - Simulation von Maßbekleidung und Konfektion online zur Passformkontrolle (in English: Simulation of Made-to-measure and Ready-made Clothing Online for Fit Checking) - aims at the realisation of a novel, interactive system to support the retail of apparel via the Internet. An essential part is a highly realistic, physically correct, three-dimensional try-on simulation. It clothes customized avatars constituting virtual copies of real customers, with clothing that is based on real production clothing patterns.
On the one hand, the system provides customers with a reliable fit checking, on the other hand, an evaluation of the optical appearance of the clothes on their virtual counterpart is possible. This functionality is accessible via current Internet browsers. The system is also advantageous for disabled customers, who are limited in their mobility. They can avoid the real try-on in a store which is often troublesome for them. In addition, the system concept sets great value on criteria like usability and shopping experience in the context of a particular Internet shop.

SiMaKon presents the current prototype of the "virtual try-on on the Internet" at this year’s fibit IT congress and fair which is taking place at the "Esperanto" convention centre in Fulda, Germany.

bei der virtuellen Konferenz „Einsatzpotenziale von 3-D Visualisierung für
mittelständische Unternehmen“ präsentiert. Zur Teilnahme an dieser kostenlosen
